My husband and I love to ride motorcycles, and one day when we were at a bike show, I was admiring the beautiful paintjobs on these rolling works of art. I though, "I could do that!" I had always wanted to be an artist someday. And so, I entered the world of art. For a while, I dabbled in painting while keeping my day job. It was with the birth of our beautiful daughter, however, that I came to the realization that now was the time to take a leap of faith and be a woman who is fully pursuing her dreams, a woman that my daughter can look up to.
After getting my feet wet with the airbrush, I ventured out to try oil painting. The soft, squishy feel of the paints hooked me immediately, and this is where I have stayed. Although entirely self taught, I have had the privilege of taking some wonderful workshops. Plus, I am a voracious reader. I believe you can learn whatever you need to through a book and practice, if you are determined.
Slowly, I have begun to develop my own style. Such an undefined term, really, but I am steadily becoming more and more comfortable in my own skin. Over the last few years, I have taken the opportunity to experiment with many different media and art styles, and while I have found that I am proficient at many different things, only a few call to me. When you are entering the art world, you are advised by well meaning friends and family to paint a certain way, a certain subject. It is only with experience that I have gained the insight that I will only paint my best if I paint what is in MY heart, MY soul.
I hope you enjoy your time spent here. Please check back often, and visit my blog to see what I am up to.
